Webb5 dec. 2008 · Rather, after drilling the correct size hole 1/4" deeper than necessary, I use a pinpoint blast of compressed air to blow the drill dust out of the hole and a 1/4" drive ratchet and socket (or drive bit) to gradually tighten the Tapcon screws down. No heating up from friction, no stripouts, no snapoffs, no problems. I put five in for a door threshold in my basement and broke one off, the concrete mix was set up for six months and originally specced at 4500 psi. This was even using the 1/4" anchors and an impact driver. WebbUse a loaner 4" knife, scrape the bad off. Get mud and skim it, old school. Are you going to remove and redo the crown molding on top? If you don’t, even if you put the drywall directly on the plaster, the trim will look sunken in and weird. You could keep the trim attached and mud/float as someone else said.

I prop a link of 2x4 against the boardroom to hold it in location untill the glue sets either I get either a stud wall built in head of it (add more heat in the stud cavities), or attach furring strips over the foam with tapcons.
